Evanovich, Janet : Eleven on Top

If you want to escape, if you want to laugh, if you want to have fun, read it.

Cahill, Susan: Women Write

A compilation of 'women's voices' that you are supposed to read if you want to be high culture. Some are good, some stink. Whose word says that all of these writers are great?

Alvarez, Julia: How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents

A fictional account of a family from the Dominican Republic . Originally written as short stories, then compiled into a novel. I can't imagine it reading like anything special, so the stories were printed in reverse to add a little more pizzazz.

Smith, E.E. "Doc": Lord Tedric No. 2: Space Pirates

A very unusual science fiction story. All is not well with humankind...unlike many stories, human society is degenerating and reverting. Its a great read, and would be even better had the author not made use of the "raygun" and "heatray" type terms (a personal pet peeve of mine, as well as the phrase itself). A very good read.

Hentoff, Nat: The Day They Came to Arrest the Book

A great book that manages to show politics in action, while still making it easy to read. All is not well at George Mason High School when someone complains about a book... a good, easy read that combines real-life issues with humor, dissapointment, embarassment, and just about any emotion you could get from any tale.

LaHaye, Tim and Jerry B. Jenkins: Glorious Appearing - Left Behind Series

Was mostly bible verses. I am a Christian, so I didn't mind, but this book didn't seem to have as much of a fictional story line or character action as in previous Left Behind books. It was slow reading for me and I was a little disappointed as far as entertainment goes, but found it very enlightening as far as learning more about the bible.

Evanovich, Janet: Ten Big Ones

I was honestly holding my breath as I opened "Ten Big Ones." I was not disappointed as I chuckled out loud reading the very first paragraph and smiling the whole time I'm reading. I can honestly forget about how much life stinks and escape into another Plumb novel. Janet is the greatest!
